Highly anticipated by thrill-seekers and moviegoers alike, Athena is sometimes heralded as the upcoming movie shocker on Netflix (with a not-so-subliminal message of adoration for the channel and its massive marketing venture), sometimes as the archetypal non-event. The film in any case allows, like Mendes' 1917 for example, to question what remains of the form when the substance is not there.
