An intimate and moving exploration of family, memories, and the reconciliatory power of art.
Our rate: **
The Norwegian director continues his cinematic work with a film in which he revisits a subject and secondary themes that we might have seen in Bergman or Sofia Coppola (the relationship with the father, the family, the place of art in the family, the intergenerational transmission of trauma, the memory of places, transmitted traumas, the family in a slightly broader sense, cinema, reconciliation…). Fluid, delicate, without any brutality (gentle rather than slow). The result is nonetheless very predictable, lacking in surprises or disruptive staging effects, except for the lovely ending.
