In 1870 Friendship, Wisconsin, a small town of Scandinavian settlers still suffering the repercussions of the recent Civil War. The only notable stylistic feature is an excessive and confusing reliance on mental imagery and a pursuit of flowery dialogue, without ever achieving, for example, the comedic quality of the Coen brothers.
